
Ryan Paces Flames on Day 1 of Mossy Oak Collegiate

WEST POINT, Miss. – Josh Ryan's lowest round in the last two months allowed the sophomore to position himself near the top of the leaderboard at the Mossy Oak Collegiate.
Ryan opened the day with a 4-under par 68 during his first trip around the Mossy Oak Golf Course (par 72, 7,217 yards), thanks to six first-round birdies.
Following an even par round of 72 during the afternoon flight, Ryan is currently tied for 11th place with a 4-under par 140 (68-72).
As a team, Liberty (287-289) is tied for seventh place, sharing the spot on the leaderboard with tournament host and No. 26 ranked Mississippi State (284-292) with an even-par 576.
Isaac Simmons will enter his final regular season round tied for 28th place with an even par 144 (71-73). The graduate student opened the day with a 1-under par 71, his ninth round of the season at par or better that included five birdies.
No. 2 Auburn, the top-ranked team in the field, holds a commanding 23-shot lead and sits atop the leaderboard with a 35-under par 541 (271-270).
Cincinnati is currently in second place with a 12-under par 564 (282-282), while No. 5 Ole Miss is in third place with an 11-under par 565 (282-283).
Four Conference USA teams are in the field with the Flames leading the group. Louisiana Tech is tied for ninth place with a 4-over par 580 (292-288).
Middle Tennessee, who will be the No. 1 seed in next week's CUSA Men's Golf Championship, is in 12th place with a 6-over par 582 (291-291). New Mexico State is one spot lower on the leaderboard at a 9-over par 585 (293-292).
The Flames will return to the Mossy Oak Golf Course on Tuesday for the final round where they will be paired with Mississippi State and Louisiana Tech. The three teams will be the first on the course off the No. 1 tee, starting at 8 a.m. CST.
