No. 19 Liberty Ready For Friday BIG EAST Showdown at Villanova

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 19-ranked Liberty Lady Flames will play a BIG EAST Conference road game against the Villanova Wildcats, Friday afternoon. Game time is 1 p.m. at the Villanova Field Hockey Field in Conshohocken, Pa.

Liberty brings a 6-5 overall record and 1-2 BIG EAST mark into the matchup. Meanwhile, Villanova carries a 7-5 mark and 2-1 record in conference play. The Lady Flames are currently tied for fifth in the league standings, while the Wildcats are tied for second.

Liberty is 11-0 all-time versus Villanova. The Lady Flames topped the Wildcats twice last year, prevailing 6-0 in the regular season showdown and 3-2 in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals.

Liberty senior forward Tuti Dell Anna was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, Tuesday. Dell Anna scored three goals in two games this past weekend against Temple and Appalachian State.
Dell Anna ranks No. 34 in the nation in goals per game (0.64) and No. 51 in points per game (1.36). She has a team-best seven goals in 11 games and paces the squad with 15 points.
Freshman defender Dara Semmartin is No. 42 in the country in assists per game (0.45). Semmartin leads all Lady Flames with five assists on the year.
Liberty is No. 24 in the most updated NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing. Villanova is 37th.
Liberty outscored Villanova 9-2 in two games last year. Current Lady Flames Martu Cian, Reagan Underwood, Kyleigh Faust and Dell Anna scored one goal apiece in those two contests.
The Lady Flames are No. 19 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. No. 7 Connecticut (11-1, 3-0 BIG EAST) and No. 20 Temple (7-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) are the other two BIG EAST teams in the national rankings. Liberty has been ranked as high as No. 11 on two occasions this fall.
