LYNCHBURG, Va. – Elise Graf was awarded her second career Defensive Player of the Week honor by the conference on Tuesday. Graf guided Liberty to a 0-0 shutout at Western Kentucky on Saturday, holding the Hilltoppers to one shot on goal.
Graf receives the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week honor for the second time in her career. She was also named the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week last season on Sept. 12, 2023.
Receiving its second consecutive recognition, Liberty was awarded its league-leading fourth CUSA Defensive Player of the Week honor. Kayla Magee (Aug. 20) and Lauren Littleton (Sept. 10, Oct. 15) have also garnered the recognition this season. The Lady Flames receive their seventh CUSA Player of the Week honor, ranking second in the conference.
Graf has started every game for Liberty this season and has played at least 70 minutes in 10 contests. The junior serves a majority of Liberty's corner attempts and often plays between the back line and the midfield marking the opponent's top scoring threats.
Liberty leads the conference with a 0.65 goals-against average, 11 goals allowed and nine shutouts. Graf leads a defense that has held its opponents to a league-leading 7.4 shots per game.
The Lady Flames welcome Middle Tennessee to Osborne Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
