LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Liberty swimming & diving team leads Tulane 102-65 after day one of its cancer awareness meet, Friday at Liberty Natatorium.

- 400 medley relay – 3:46.37 (Sydney Stricklin – 56.16; Taylor Stasny – 1:05.09; Kamryn Cannings – 54.46; Aly Bozzuto – 50.66)
- Jr. Eden Troxell – 500 freestyle (5:00.02)
- R-So. Malia Francis – 200 backstroke (2:00.55)
- Fr. Taylor Stasny – 100 breaststroke (1:05.17)
- Fr. Aly Bozzuto – 100 freestyle (51.30)
- 200 freestyle relay – 1:34.14 (Kamryn Cannings – 23.96, Sydney Stricklin – 23.33, Aly Bozzuto – 23.17, Kate Baker – 23.68)
- Liberty won four out of six individual swimming events tonight along with both relays. Tulane claimed two individual swimming races and three-meter diving.
- The Lady Flames won the meet-opening 400 medley relay in 3:46.37, defeating the Green Wave by 2.48 seconds.
- Eden Troxell remained unbeaten in individual events so far this season, edging out Tulane's Lise Coetzee for first place in the 500 free (5:00.02-5:00.10).
- Malia Francis led a 1-2 Liberty finish in the 200 backstroke, winning in 2:00.55 while teammate Sadie Stricklin swam 2:02.72 for second.
- The close racing continued in the 200 fly, with Tulane's Varvara Gkiouzepa (2:01.47) beating Liberty's Kamryn Cannings (2:01.69) by 0.22 seconds.
- Liberty freshman Taylor Stasny won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.17, just 0.06 clear of Tulane sophomore Paula Gaya Bisquerra.
- Lady Flames freshman Aly Bozzuto won the 100 free in 51.30, remaining unbeaten on the season. She has won all of her individual events and every relay she has been in so far.
- Liberty's 200 free relay capped the night by winning in 1:34.14.
- This weekend's meet has special significance to the program, as the Lady Flames will be raising funds and awareness for cancer research. Over the past year, both Liberty Associate Head Coach Jessica Barnes and junior Grace Shaw were diagnosed with cancer. Both underwent treatment and are cancer free. Liberty Swimming & Diving will also honor the memory of Cindy Baker, mother of former Lady Flame Hannah (Baker) Skirrow. Cindy Baker passed away due to cancer.
- Shaw, competing in her first race since fighting cancer, swam 56.35 for the 100 freestyle.
