Field Hockey to Host Quinnipiac Friday, Longwood Sunday For Senior Day

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty field hockey program will host Quinnipiac in conference action on Friday, followed by a Sunday afternoon non-conference bout against in-state foe Longwood. Sunday will be Senior Day for Liberty.
Both games this weekend will begin at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Field Hockey Field and will air on ESPN+.
No. 19 Liberty is 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the BIG EAST entering Friday's matchup against Quinnipiac (2-12, 0-4 BIG EAST). The Lady Flames are coming off a 1-0 triumph at Villanova, last Friday in a BIG EAST matchup. The Quinnipiac Bobcats are in search of their BIG EAST win of the year and looking to snap an eight-game losing streak. The Bobcats fell 4-0 at home to Brown in their most recent match, Monday afternoon.
On Sunday, Liberty will honor its senior class with a special ceremony prior to the start of the game against the Longwood Lancers (4-7). The seven-player senior class includes: Reagan Underwood, Martu Cian, Ellie Livingston, Tuti Dell Anna, Ella Murphy, Danielle Hamm and Corey Dykema (practice player). Longwood has lost five of its last six contests but won its most recent game, a 2-1 result at Bellarmine this past Sunday. The Lancers will host Miami (Ohio) on Friday prior to traveling to Lynchburg.

Lady Flames News and Notes
- Liberty's Ellie Livingston and Michaela Skinner both received BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition on Tuesday. Livingston scored the game-winning goal last Friday at Villanova, and Skinner recorded her fourth shutout of the season with a three-save effort in that match.
- Liberty has climbed into the No. 19 position in the NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing, up five spots from their position (No. 24) at this time a week ago. Quinnipiac is No. 70 in the RPI, and Longwood is 68th.
- The Lady Flames have won six of the seven all-time matchups with Quinnipiac. Last season, Liberty earned a 2-1 road win over Quinnipiac.
- This will be the 14th all-time meeting between Liberty and Longwood. The Lady Flames hold a 9-4 edge in the series. Last year, Liberty topped Longwood 7-1 at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field in Farmville, Va. Current Lady Flames Martu Cian, Tuti Dell Anna, Kyleigh Faust and Ellie Livingston each scored goals in that contest.
- Dell Anna leads the team with seven goals in 2024 and currently ranks 39th nationally in goals per game (0.58).
- Freshman midfielder Josefina Tomasi ranks eighth nationally and second in the BIG EAST with three defensive saves. She has accounted for all three of Liberty's defensive saves on the year, all of which have come in the last four games.
- The Lady Flames are No. 19 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, a position they have now held for two straight weeks. No. 5 Connecticut (12-1, 4-0 BIG EAST) and No. 20 Temple (8-4, 3-1 BIG EAST) are the other two BIG EAST teams in the national rankings. Liberty has been ranked as high as No. 11 on two occasions this fall.
