Following a challenging start to the day, Liberty was able to steady its pace and finds itself in 11th place entering tomorrow's final round of the 2024 Sea Best Invitational.
The Flames struggled out of the gates in their first event of the spring portion of their 2023-24 season. Liberty found itself at 16-over par following nine holes of play at the TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course (par 70. 6,790).
With the winds reaching sustained gusts of 10 to 15 MPH during the afternoon flight, the rest of the scores for the 15-team field started to rise as Liberty started to find its way.
The Flames played the final 27 holes of play on Monday at 11-over par and finished the day with an aggregate score of 27-over par 587 (293-294).
No. 26 Florida currently leads the field with a 2-over par 562 (286-276) and is seven shots clear of North Florida's 9-over par 569 (288-281).
The Gators are looking to win this event in back-to-back years after carding a winning score of 14-under par 826 (279-276-271) to win by 23 strokes, last year.
Ike Joy (69-76) and Josh Ryan (72-73) paced the Flames during day one of the Jacksonville-hosted tournament. The pair is tied for 22nd place with a 5-over par 145. Only four players in the 84-man field finished the day in red figures.
The 15-team field will return to the TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course at 8 a.m. EST to begin the final round of the Sea Best Invitational.
The Flames will tee off at 8:45 a.m. and will be sent off the No. 10 tee box, along with golfers from FAU and Kennesaw State.
