COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Liberty, facing a nationally-ranked opponent for the second time in the last week, fell in three sets to No. 22 Houston (25-11, 25-16, 25-16), Thursday at Texas A&M's Reed Arena.
The Cougars (7-2) pushed their winning streak to three matches with a win over Texas A&M (3-1) last night and tonight's sweep of Liberty. The Lady Flames fall to 7-3 with their third straight setback after starting the season 7-0. Tomorrow's opponent, Texas A&M, also began its season at 7-0 but has lost its last two matches.

- For the match, Houston hit .293 and led in kills (38-18), blocks (11-5) and digs (37-26). The Lady Flames hit -.128 but won the service battle with four aces and five errors to three aces and seven errors for the Cougars.
- Houston's Katie Corelli (.450) and Abbie Jackson tied for match-high honors with 11 kills apiece. Meanwhile, Kellen Morin posted a match-best eight blocks, Anie Cooke totaled 16 assists and nine digs and Kenna Sauer collected a match-high 10 digs.
- Madison Blane scored five kills at a .500 pace to lead Liberty, also adding three blocks. Sydney Whitfield contributed four kills and a career-high three blocks, while Delaney Dilfer led Liberty in assists (15) and digs (9).
- Houston only trailed twice all match, at 1-0 and 2-1 in the second set, maintaining command throughout as the Lady Flames struggled to find traction.
- Tonight was Liberty's first-ever meeting with Houston in volleyball. The Lady Flames are winless in nine meetings all-time against Big 12 schools (at time of meeting).
- Houston made a Sweet 16 run last year and is one of five teams which Liberty has played so far this season who competed in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.
- Liberty is 1-1 so far this season against nationally-ranked opponents, earning its first-ever Top 25 win last Thursday at then No. 23 Hawai'i, the first match of a trip to Hawai'i and Texas.
- Liberty senior Zoi Sherolli received her first playing time as a Lady Flame after transferring from Green Bay. She contributed one kill and one service ace.
