10/25/2023 9:06:00 PM | Men's Golf
The Flames will wrap up the fall portion of their 2023-24 schedule with a return trip to Hawaii for the 2023 Ka'anapali Classic.
The three-day, 54-hole event will once again be contested at the Ka'anapali Golf Club - Royal Ka'anapali Course (par 71, 6,700 yards) in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Play gets underway on Thursday morning, 8:30 a.m. local time.
Liberty is participating in this event for the second year in a row and the fourth time in program history (2015, 2019 and 2021).
Last year, the Flames finished the event in third place with a 26-under par 826 (280-275-271).
Josh Ryan paced Liberty at the tournament with a then career-low 54-hole total of 12-under par 201 (65-68-68), good enough for fourth place at the tournament.
Austin Barbin also completed the event in red figures for the Flames, finishing tied for 22nd place with a 5-under par 208 (69-70-69).
The area around the Royal Ka'anapali Course was significantly affected by the recent wildfires in Maui. In partnership with two non-profit organizations, a fundraising campaign has just launched to benefit Maui's wildfire victims, including Ka'anapali Golf Courses' own associates who tragically lost everything (Donation Link).
This year's tournament includes a 20-team field: Air Force, Boise State, Clemson, Colorado, CSUN, Denver, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Gonzaga, Hawai'I, Kansas, Liberty, Louisiana Lafayette, Mount St. Mary's, North Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, San Jose State, UConn and Wyoming.
