
Liberty Sweeps Stetson

Liberty won a pair of close sets before rolling to a 25-12 set-three win to secure a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-22, 25-12) over Stetson, Friday at Edmunds Center.
Liberty improves to 14-7 on the season, including 7-2 in ASUN play, with its third win in a row. The Hatters fall to 12-8, 3-5 in conference matches following their third straight loss.
Notable Numbers
• Liberty outhit Stetson .336-.198 for the match, more than doubling (55-27) the Hatters’ kill total. The Lady Flames also led in aces (5-2), digs (39-32) and blocks.
• Kamryn Bacus led Liberty in kills for the third straight match, scoring a match-high 17 kills at a .533 pace. Delaney Dilfer dished out a match-high 44 assists while adding three aces, 11 digs and two blocks. Kate Phillips contributed 15 kills and added 11 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Lydia Burts scored 10 kills at a .389 pace, while Madison Blane posted four blocks.
• Elena Djokovic and Alexis Thompson scored seven kills each for Stetson, while Nyah Molina dished out 19 assists.
Turning Point
• Set one wet back and forth, with 15 ties and six lead changes. Liberty broke a 21-all tie with kills from Trinity Watts and Phillips. After Stetson sided out, Burts sent down a kill before Bacus’ solo block sealed the set. Similarly to set one, the second set went to Liberty in a tight one, 25-22.
• Liberty hit .400 during the third set, holding Stetson to just four kills at a .043 pace while winning 25-12.
Quick Hits
• Liberty now leads the all-time series with Stetson, 6-3. Stetson won both meetings in five sets last year, and tonight was Liberty’s first win over the Hatters since sweeping them 3-0 on Nov. 12, 2019.
• Dilfer recorded her 12th double-double of the season and 18th of her career. Her 12 double-doubles this season are the most by a Liberty player since Hannah Morris totaled 12 in 2019.
• Bacus has scored 17 or more kills in each of the last three matches. She is the first Lady Flame since Casey Goodwin (four straight, Nov. 10-21, 2019) with 17 or more kills in three or more consecutive matches.
• Burts has posted six straight 10-kill matches, the first Liberty middle blocker since Chelaine McCarty, Oct. 6-20, 2009, with six consecutive double-digit kill contests.
• Liberty has outhit its opponent in each of its last 12 matches. The last time Liberty outhit its opponent in 12 or more consecutive matches was Oct. 5 through Nov. 17, 2007, when the Lady
Flames outhit opponents in 16 consecutive matches.
