
Liberty Battles for 3-1 Win Over Jacksonville

With the match tied at 1-1 and Liberty trailing set three 12-7, the Lady Flames stormed back, downing Jacksonville in four sets (25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 27-25) on Friday at Liberty Arena. The Lady Flames and Dolphins played before a Liberty Arena-record 1,098 fans.
With the win, Liberty improves to 12-7 on the season, including 5-2 in ASUN play. Meanwhile, Jacksonville falls to 8-11, 2-5 in conference matches following its third straight setback.
Notable Numbers
• Liberty outhit Jacksonville .340-.239 for the match. The Lady Flames scored a season-high 71 kills, compared to 44 for the Dolphins. Liberty led 50-37 in digs, while JU led in blocks (10-8) and aces (4-3).
• For the fourth match in a row, Liberty had four players reach double figures in kills. Delaney Dilfer dished out a career-high 58 assists to go along with 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Kamryn Bacus scored a season-high 19 kills at a .378 pace, while Lydia Burts (.565) posted 16 kills and four blocks. Kate Phillips sent down 14 kills, while Madison Blane contributed 12 kills (.476) and four blocks. Erica Lowery collected a match-high 20 digs.
• Haley Hart scored a team-high 15 kills for Jacksonville, adding a match-high seven blocks. Jenna McNamara and Lyric Love totaled nine kills each, while Rebecca Rocassin dished out 40 assists and Kariana Ayala-Drew collected 15 digs.
Turning Point
• Liberty came out on fire, hitting .609 during a 25-16 set-one win. The Dolphins responded in the second set, winning 25-23.
• Jacksonville built a 12-7 lead in the third set. Liberty quickly erased the deficit with a 5-0 run, part of a larger 18-5 rally to give the Lady Flames the win, 25-17.
• The Lady Flames converted on their third match-point try, as Blane and Phillips sent down kills for the final two points of a 27-25 set-four win.

• Liberty is now 8-1 all-time against Jacksonville in volleyball, winning each of the last eight meetings.
• Liberty is 5-2 in matches immediately following a loss this season.
• Liberty’s 71 kills today tie a program record for most kills in a four-set match under the current 25-point rally scoring system (also Nov. 14, 2015 at Gardner-Webb).
• Dilfer posted her third straight 50-assist match, sixth as a Lady Flame and 13th for her career. She is the first Lady Flame since Anna Willey (four straight, Oct. 14-22, 2016) to have three or more 50-assist matches in a row.
• Liberty has outhit its opponent in each of its last 10 matches. The last time Liberty outhit its opponent in 10 consecutive matches was Oct. 14-Nov. 18, 2012.
• Lowery has collected 20 digs in each of the last two matches. She is the first Lady Flame since Macy Phillips (three straight, Oct. 13-25, 2019) with back-to-back 20-dig matches.
• Liberty has 14 alumni participate in an on-court ceremony between sets two and three. The Lady Flames are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the program’s first conference title.
