
No. 12 Liberty Collects 5-0 Shutout Win at Quinnipiac

The 12th-ranked Liberty field hockey squad remained unbeaten in BIG EAST play following a 5-0 shutout win over the host Quinnipiac Bobcats, Friday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium.
Liberty improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the BIG EAST after its fourth straight victory overall. The Lady Flames are the only team in the BIG EAST without a loss following Temple’s 1-0 setback at Georgetown on Friday afternoon.
Quinnipiac slips to 0-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Four different Liberty players scored in the victory, led by two goals from junior forward Daniella Rhodes and one goal apiece from Jill Bolton, Reagan Underwood and Lexi Hosler. Redshirt senior midfielder Kendra Jones tied a program record with three assists in the contest.

Turning Point
Liberty’s Jill Bolton scored in the second minute for her team-best ninth goal of the year, staking Liberty to an early 1-0 edge. Bolton’s goal came on a redirect from a Reagan Underwood forehand strike inside the circle.
The Lady Flames added a second goal in the second period, as Daniella Rhodes found the back of the cage at the 18:21 mark on a penalty corner. Rhodes’ sixth goal of the season helped Liberty take a 2-0 lead at the break. The Lady Flames scored three times after intermission.
Key Stats & Notes
• Jones' three assists, which matched a program record, was the second three-assist game of her career. She also accomplished the feat on Sept. 27, 2019 at home versus Villanova.
• The Lady Flames outshot the Bobcats 25-4 on the day, including a 14-1 edge in shots on goal. Ten different Liberty players recorded at least one shot, led by five shots from Rhodes.
• Liberty earned a season-high 13 penalty corners in the contest while limiting Quinnipiac to two. The Lady Flames scored on two of their penalty corner chances.
• Liberty improves to 4-1 all-time versus Quinnipiac. In the last three meetings, the Lady Flames have outscored the Bobcats 17-2.
• Lady Flames goalkeeper Azul Iritxity Irigoyen recorded her third shutout of the season and sixth of her career. Iritxity Irigoyen made one save today.
• Bolton’s goal was the 51st of her career. The senior forward now has 133 points and needs three more to become the program’s all-time points leader. The current record is 135 points, held by Agueda Moroni (2016-18).
• Lexi Hosler’s fourth quarter goal was her first of the season and second career marker.
• Underwood matched a career high with three points (1 g, 1 a) in the contest.
• Rhodes’ two-goal game was her eighth career multiple-goal game.

Liberty will welcome No. 20 Duke (4-5) to Lynchburg for a Sunday afternoon contest. Match time between the Lady Flames and Blue Devils is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Liberty earned its first-ever win over Duke during the spring season. The Lady Flames edged the Blue Devils 3-2 in double overtime on the road. Liberty is 1-6 all-time versus Duke. Each of the last four meetings between the two squads have gone to overtime.
