
Liberty Field Hockey Releases 2026 Schedule

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty field hockey squad has released its fall 2026 game schedule, featuring six matchups against ranked teams from a year ago.
The Lady Flames will play 17 regular season contests and a six-game BIG EAST Conference regular season schedule. Liberty will open the season with a trip to Maine to face the Maine Black Bears on Aug. 28, followed by a contest against No. 14 UMass the following day (Aug. 29).
Liberty will play a trio of exhibition matchups against Davidson (home, Aug. 15), No. 5 Virginia (home, Aug. 17) and Appalachian State (road, Aug. 22) as a lead-up to the regular season.
The Lady Flames' 2026 campaign will include games against six teams who finished among the top 20 in the country in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll in 2025: No. 1 North Carolina (home, Oct. 11), No. 5 Virginia (home, Sept. 11), No. 8 Duke (home, Oct. 25), No. 11 Miami (Ohio) (home, Sept. 19), No. 13 Connecticut (road, Sept. 25) and No. 14 UMass (neutral at Maine, Aug. 29).
Liberty's game against UConn on Sept. 25 will be both teams' BIG EAST openers and a rematch of the 2025 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship title game. The Lady Flames' home conference opener comes on Oct. 2 against Old Dominion.
Temple will host the 2026 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship after Liberty hosted the tournament in 2025. The four-team championship will take place Nov. 6-8 at the Temple Sports Complex in Philadelphia, Pa. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
Liberty's other regular season home games include Longwood (Sept. 13), Appalachian State (Sept. 20) and Temple (Oct. 23). The Lady Flames' other road games will be at Saint Joseph's (Sept. 4), James Madison (Sept. 6), Richmond (Oct. 4), Providence (Oct. 16) and Villanova (Oct. 30).
Liberty (17-3, 7-0 BIG EAST in 2025) claimed the BIG EAST outright regular season title and tournament crown last year. The Lady Flames have competed in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship in four of the last five seasons (fall 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025) and six times overall (also 2013 and 2014). Last year's squad ended the year as the No. 6-ranked team in the country and was No. 7 in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing.
