Combrinck, Tomasi and Semmartin Named to CSC Academic All-District® Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey's Lou Combrinck, Josefina Tomasi and Dara Semmartin were each named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, as announced today by CSC.
Combrinck earns the recognition for a second straight year, while Tomasi and Semmartin are both first-time honorees. To earn inclusion on the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, be a starter or key reserve, have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games or have started 66 percent of the team's total games and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Combrinck, Tomasi and Semmartin are each eligible for consideration for the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-America® Women's At-Large Team, with voting beginning for the teams. The first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees for the at-large division will be released on July 7.
Combrinck, a senior forward/midfielder, graduated this May with a bachelor's degree in special education: adapted and general curriculum K-12. She earned a 3.85 cumulative GPA. Combrinck is a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member and three-time BIG EAST All-Academic team honoree.
During her final season at Liberty, Combrinck earned numerous awards, including: NFHCA All-South Region first team, BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player, All-BIG EAST first team, NFHCA Senior Team, NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention, BIG EAST All-Tournament team, BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, NFHCA Watchlist and BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Combrinck, a native of Hillcrest, South Africa, started all 20 games as a senior and tallied seven goals (tied for first on team), 12 assists (No. 2 on team) and 26 points (No. 2 on team). She ended the year third in the BIG EAST and 21st in the country in assists per game (0.60). The senior scoring the game-winning goal in Liberty's 2-1 overtime triumph over UConn in the 2025 BIG EAST Championship title game and garnered BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player and All-Tournament team honors as a result.
Tomasi, a sophomore forward, is currently maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in information technology – data networking and security. Tomasi is on track to graduate in May 2027 (was academically a junior this year). She is a two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, two-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member and BIG EAST All-Academic team honoree.
On the field hockey pitch, Tomasi enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign, earning NFHCA All-South Region first team honors along with All-BIG EAST second team recognition and one BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year award.
The native of Cañada de Gómez, Argentina finished the year with seven goals (tied for first on team), five assists, 19 points and one defensive save while appearing in all 20 games (all starts). Tomasi's highlight-reel goal against James Madison (Sept. 3) in the Lady Flames' home opener was featured as the No. 3 play on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays listing.
Semmartin, a sophomore defender, is majoring in information technology – data networking and security. A two-time NFHCA National Academic Squad and BIG EAST All-Academic team member, she is currently maintaining a 3.52 GPA. Semmartin is on track to graduate in May 2027 (was academically a junior this year).
