For the third time this season, Liberty's Ervin Chang has been named the ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week, taking home this week's accolade after his third top-five finish of the 2018-19 season.
Chang finished tied for fifth place with a 7-under par 206 (72-64-70) at the Mason Rudolph Championship, last Friday through Sunday. The 54-hole event was played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club (par 71, 7,100 yards) in Franklin, Tenn.
Chang's fifth-place showing helped Liberty finish the Vanderbilt hosted tournament in second place. The Flames carded a 12-under par 840 (280-278-282), finishing behind tournament host and No. 4 Vanderbilt, who won its home events for the second year in a row and the sixth time since the event started in 2001.
Chang carded a 7-under par 64 during the second round, which was one shot off the tournament 18-hole record. Chang's 7-under par 64 was his second lowest 18-hole total of the 2018-19 season and marked his eight sub-70 round of the season.
The native of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, played the par-5 holes at a -5/4.58 scoring average, helping the Flames lead the field in par-5 scoring during the event (-26/4.57 scoring average).
Chang previously shared the ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week honors twice this season on Nov. 1 and March 14.
