Matthew Harmon assumed his role as Sports Nutrition Graduate Assistant in July 2020. In his current position, he assists with the development of nutrition education and meal coverage at the Champion Performance Training table.
Harmon also counsels athletes on dietary supplements and ergogenic aid use and banned substances. Additionally, he assists with management of work study students, volunteers and interns. Harmon aids in team coverage, including individual counseling, team education, travel meal planning, supplement education and body composition analysis. Finally, he assists in management of the central fueling station and football station, including ordering, inventory, stocking and staffing.
Prior to coming to Liberty, Harmon served as a Sports Nutrition Intern at Virginia from July 2019 to July 2020. Before that, he worked as an Assistant Sports Nutritionist with the Texas Tech football program from Aug. 2017-Jan. 2018. In 2017, Harmon was a Sports Nutrition Intern with the Tulsa football program.
Harmon earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and foods with a concentration in dietetics from Texas State in Dec. 2014. He graduated with Cum Laude distinction. Harmon is currently pursuing a master’s degree in exercise science & wellness with concentration in fitnes & performance, which he expects to complete in May 2022.
Harmon earned the Preceptor of the Month award in Dec. 2018 while working as an intern at Aramark.
Harmon currently resides in Lynchburg and is an avid weightlifter.
