Liberty Rallies for 3 Runs in the 9th for a 7-5 Victory at NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Third baseman Jordan Jaffe singled home two runs with two out to give Liberty the lead as the Flames plated three runs in the ninth inning for a come-from-behind 7-5 victory over the NC State Wolfpack Tuesday night at Doak Field at Dail Park.
Trailing 5-4 and down to their final out, shortstop Tanner Marsh ripped the first pitch he saw into left field to tie the game at 5-5. Two batters later and with the bases loaded, Jaffe lined a two-run single over the second baseman's head into right-center field to give the Flames a 7-5 lead.
Cooper Harrington, the last of seven Liberty relivers in the contest, retired the side in the bottom of the ninth, striking out the final two batters to seal the Flames' win.
Liberty took the lead on a home run by Tanner Marsh, his fourth of the season, in the top of the eighth inning, only to see the NC State Wolfpack plate two runs in the home half of the inning to take a 5-4 headed to the ninth.
Jaffe had two hits and three RBI, scoring a run in the game. Marsh added two hits and two RBI and scored three runs.
Liberty moves to 19-9 on the season. NC State falls to 18-11. The Wolfpack has lost seven in a row9.
