Student-Athlete Q&A
How did you end up at Liberty?
I was recruited by Coach Lang in the winter of my junior year of high school. I had come here for an ID camp, and I guess he saw something in me that he liked and he offered me.
Â
What made Liberty stand out in the recruiting process?
The culture of the team and how all the girls seem to really love each other and how the coaches truly give out their wisdom to the players.
Â
What's the experience been like for you so far?
It's been amazing. All the girls have been so supportive. As a freshman coming in, it can be intimidating, but they've all welcomed us
Â
What are your earliest memories of soccer?
My earliest memories are playing rec league. With IM Third Academy and having my mom coach me.
Â
How long did she get to coach you for?
She coached me for 5 years.
Â
What about family members that have played college or pro sports?
I have an aunt who played college soccer at Rutgers University, and then I have two cousins who played in college. One at Center College and then the other at Miami of Ohio.
Â
Do you remember the positions any of them played?
My aunt played midfield. My cousin, one played defense, and the other plays in the midfield or forward as well.
Â
What about your family, parents, siblings what do they do?
My dad is an entrepreneur. He owns his own right-away spring business. My mom does medical credentialing, and then my brother, my younger brother, he plays football, runs track, and then plays basketball as well.
Â
What do you like to do outside of soccer?
I like to read and do crafts outside of soccer.
Â
What do you like to read?
I like to read either rom-coms and action books. I'm currently reading, 'The People We Meet on Vacation.'
Â
Favorite book so far?
'Picking Daisies on Sundays,' would be my favorite book so far, which is a rom-com.
Â
Any military ties in your family?
My uncle, He was part of driving tanks. I'm not sure where he was stationed at, Army I believe
Â
Anything you've been through up to this point in life that's unique for someone your age?
I can't really think of any adversity that I would have had to face. My mom did have breast cancer for a while there, but luckily it was in the earliest stages and so she didn't have to go through treatment or anything, but that was still a scare. It was about five years ago now.
Â
Anything else about you people may not know?
I was a kicker one year for my freshman year for our high school football team.
Â
How did that come about?
One of the coaches saw me playing soccer and just saw how far I could kick a soccer ball. He's like, 'Hey, we could use her on the football field.' So he invited me to come out, I tried it. They were like, 'Okay, we'll keep you on.'
Â
What was the longest field goal you made?
Oh, I believe 25 yards. It wasn't anything crazy. They didn't really go for a bunch of field goals.
Â
All the extra points, you nailed them?
All of them except one.
Â
Did you enjoy that, enough to go back?
I really enjoyed it. I just got so busy because it was during soccer season, so I was doing both high school soccer and football at the same time, but all the guys who I was around, they were really nice to me. They respected me and celebrated me and like picked me up if I did miss.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
I picked number 23 because it represents a lot of great athletes who have worn it before me and helps remind me to always work hard for my goals.
Â
Do you possess any special or unique talents, interests, or hobbies?
I love both water and snow skiing
Â
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
My most memorable athletic accomplishments are winning two outdoor state track and field championships and making the all state team for soccer.
- Played for Lexington Christian Academy and Lexington Sporting Club
- Named to the all-region teams and the 43rd District All-Tournament team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons
- Earned a spot on the junior varsity football team at Lexington Christian and was elevated to the varsity team in her freshman year
- A multi-sport athlete, also competed in basketball and track where she was named to the all-city and all-tournament teams across her freshman and sophomore seasons
- Named to the KHSAA Triple Threat Award in her senior year
