LYNCHBURG, Va. – Halle Engle's fifth game-winning goal this season was all that was needed to lift Liberty (14-2-2, 7-0-1 CUSA) over Missouri State (4-9-4, 1-4-3 CUSA) at home on Sunday. The Lady Flames finish 2026 with a perfect 9-0 record at home and wrap the regular season with a 12-game unbeaten streak (12-0-1).
With Delaware's 0-0 draw on Saturday, Liberty had already secured the 2026 Conference USA Regular Season Championship to begin the day. The Lady Flames will be the No. 1 seed in the CUSA Championship in Newark, Del., beginning on Sunday.
In a rematch of the 2025 CUSA Championship final, Engle found the net in the 14th minute of the game. The forward received a pass with space near the penalty area. After drifting outside, she sent a beam across the field that just beat a diving goalkeeper at the back post.
Liberty's defense led the day, holding the Bears to a single shot and without any chances on goal. Missouri State managed to push the ball down the field at times, but were denied when sending the ball towards the middle of the field.
The Lady Flames conclude the regular season without a loss in their last 13 games. Liberty looks to continue its winning ways, needing three wins to secure back-to-back CUSA Championship titles.
All games at the CUSA Championship (Nov. 8-14) will be streamed live on ESPN+. Visit BlueHens.com for tickets or follow LibertyWSoccer on social media.
