Student-Athlete Q&A
How and why did you end up at Liberty?
I wanted to have the best soccer and academic experience and plus academic, athletic and faith-based spiritual side of college and liberty. checked all those boxes. God just opened the doors. He opened the door for me to play here, and I probably would not have gotten to this point without trusting in His plan for me.
How did that door open? Did somebody from here reach out to you first? Did you reach out to Liberty first? What was kind of that process from what you remember?
The process was a lot of emails going back and forth, and eventually Coach Lang invited me to an ID camp and a couple of visits, and then we just had a good relationship from that point. I think just everything kind of went well from there.
When did you start playing soccer?
I started playing soccer when I was 6 years old. I played recreation for about 2 or 3 years and then I played club soccer at Magnus FC and I stayed with that club until I graduated high school, so that club meant a lot to me.
Did you play high school soccer too, or just the club?
I only played club soccer. I didn't play high school soccer.
What about your family? Your parents, siblings? What, what do they do?
I have two sisters. One of them is 16 years old and she does theater. The other one is 23 and she's a photographer, she graduated from Cal Baptist. My two parents met at UC Irvine and my dad's a lawyer and also a soccer coach. My mom's a teacher.
Where does he coach soccer?
He coaches soccer at the same soccer club, Magnus FC. I played for him for a couple of years, but in 2020, I went to a different team.
What does your mom teach? High school, middle school?
She actually, she homeschooled us, so she taught us, but she used to teach high school math, I think, but she also used to do physical therapy for a little bit.
Do you have any military ties in your family? Anyone that served in the military?
Both of my grandfathers were drafted for a little bit.
What do you like doing outside of soccer?
I really like drawing and being artistic and, and I feel like I'm a creative person, so I have lots of creative hobbies like drawing, painting. I like animation and I've done a stop motion animation before.
Any projects you're working on or things you've created that's out there
I've made a couple of short films before. Nothing like in the works right now, but I do love drawing and I continue to do that today.
What about anything in life up to this point that maybe is unique for somebody your age?
I actually played soccer with boys since 2022 from when I was 12 through high school. So that was a really big challenge for me. I always love pushing myself, and that was possibly like the biggest thing I could challenge myself with. I think that helped me get to this level because everything is so much faster with guys, and I got a lot of slack playing with guys. People said, 'You should play with girls,' and. And I personally, I was looking long-term, I know this is going to help me get to the collegiate level, so that's why I stuck with them so long.
Is that pretty rare that you think for girls?
Yeah, it often is rare, some girls like to play soccer with boys when they're younger, and then often they move to a girls team, maybe around high school. It's very rare for you to see girls playing with boys beyond high school. I was pretty much the only girl in my soccer league for six years.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
