Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
I chose Liberty for the culture and the Christ-like environment. The team plays for a different purpose that's so fulfilling, and here we are more than athletes. First and foremost we are children of God and everything we do here is to glorify Him!
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I listen to my mental imagery and spend some alone time in prayer before a game to get my mind ready. After games I do some stretching, recover, and refuel but nothing special.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
I would say my dad but that's too obvious, he is such an inspiration to me, but I have an old family friend, her name is Ellie Abraham, who doesn't remember me, but I see how hard she works. She inspires me to keep going and strive for the same work ethic that she has.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
High School soccer was such a fun time, and I can remember almost every game, whether it was an intense game or not I was satisfied with every final whistle. I just loved my team, coaches, and environment. It was just a fun time.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
I choose to wear the number 9 because it was my dad's number in college and my little brother's club number so I've got some big shoes to fill.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
My dad and my aunt both played D1 soccer and went Pro after college. My dad, Lang Wedemeyer, played two years at Old Dominion and two years at Virginia Tech, then played 7 years of pro at a lot of pro teams. My aunt, Elizabeth Moon, played all 4 years at UNC Greensboro and then played pro with the Greensboro Twisters.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
I love breakfast! French toast all the way, my dad makes it with my grandma's secret recipe.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
I open Snapchat first in the morning.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
I love watching movies.
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
I have two dogs, Scout, a black lab and, Trigger, a yellow lab.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Mia Hamm.
What is your favorite possession and why?
My baby blanket is my favorite possession, it's just super comforting and I've had it since birth.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?
Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood.
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Germany! I've been there before but I am obsessed with the castles and towns and food!
