A pair of Liberty baseball players heard their names called in the Major League Draft on Tuesday. Right fielder Camden Troyer was selected in the 12th round by the New York Yankees and pitcher Dylan Mathiesen was taken in the 13th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Troyer capped his Flames career with a big senior season, hitting .300 with 10 homers. Mathiesen finished fourth in Conference USA in strikeouts before having his season cut short with an arm injury.
The big league All-Star Game is tonight but three Flames baseball players are All-Stars in the Cape Cod League. Pitchers Tyler August and Josh Swink and shortstop Tanner Marsh will play in the Cape's annual all-star game this Saturday. August has a 3.95 ERA and is averaging 11 strikeouts per nine innings for the Hyanis Harbor Hawks. Swink is 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA for the Chatham Anglers and Marsh is hitting .317 for the Harwich Mariners.
