
No. 19 Notre Dame Ousts Liberty 21-7

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Lacrosse (4-9) was unable to keep up with the challenging test No. 19 Notre Dame presented, falling 21-7 at home on Monday afternoon. The Lady Flames suffer their fourth consecutive loss.
The Fighting Irish jumped out to an 8-0 lead they took into the end of the first quarter. Notre Dame rode stellar days from Kate Timarky (6g, 4a), Madison Rassas (6g, 2a) and Meghan O'Hare. (3g, 2a). Notre Dame managed to control possession throughout with 23 draw controls, including 15 from Uma Kowalski, and capitalized on 22 Liberty turnovers.
Liberty responded with at least two goals in each of the remaining quarters but were outperformed in each frame. Katie Colavito enjoyed a four-goal performance, leading the Lady Flames' attack. Olivia Young (1g, 2a) and Ava Rajala (three assists) also contributed on the attack.
The Lady Flames still seek their first triumph against the Irish, now 0-8 all-time. Liberty has yet to win a game at home this season (0-8). Including No. 19 Notre Dame, the Lady Flames have hosted four ranked opponents (No. 8 Johns Hopkins, No. 24 Virginia and No. 25 Richmond) at home this spring, along with powerhouse lacrosse programs in JMU and Jacksonville.

Despite a promising effort with a free position attempt by Nesci that hit the post, Liberty couldn't break the Irish momentum, led by Timarky's hat-trick in the first quarter. Critical turnovers limited Liberty's offensive opportunities, leaving Liberty trailing 8–0 after the first.
Second Quarter Liberty 3, Notre Dame 13
Liberty gained ground in the second with Young's free-position goal and Colavito's woman-up goal. However, the Irish responded strongly, extending their lead with a series of goals. Colavito's late goal in the quarter brought some relief, but Rassas scored again before halftime, leaving the score at 13–3.
Third Quarter Liberty 5, Notre Dame 17
In the third frame, Liberty showed some fight with Nesci's early goal set up by Rajala. Despite this, the Fighting Irish continued their scoring spree. Liberty managed another goal through Nesci, but Notre Dame's relentless offense kept them ahead, ending the quarter at 17–5.
Fourth Quarter Liberty 7, Notre Dame 21
Colavito's two goals in the fourth, both assisted by Rajala, highlighted Liberty's continued effort. The Fighting Irish, however, maintained their lead, finishing the game with a decisive 21–7 win.
