LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty third baseman Jordan Jaffe has been selected the CUSA Hitter of the Week for April 27.
He becomes the first Flame to be named Hitter of the Week and the second Liberty player to receive a weekly honor, as right-hander Ben Blair has been named CUSA Pitcher of the Week three times this season.
Jaffe hit .500 (10-for-20) with 14 RBI and four runs scored for the Flames. He had four doubles and a triple, posting a .478 on-base percentage and an .800 slugging percentage.
Jaffe had at least one hit in all five games during the week and had two or more hits in each of the last four games. The senior also upped his team-leading reached base safely streak to 32 consecutive games.
The Moorpark, Calif., native started the week with a hit and two RBI in the Flames' come-from-behind 13-10 win over Duke at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium this past Tuesday. Liberty scored seven runs in the eighth inning to take the lead en route to the victory.
On Wednesday, Jaffe had two hits and a stolen base at Virginia and then followed with two hits, a double and two RBI on Friday evening against Delaware. On Saturday, the senior had a two-run triple, an RBI double and a sacrifice fly, which scored a run in Liberty's 11-5 win over Delaware at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium. He also scored two runs.
Jaffe finished the week by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a season-high six RBI in the Flames' 14-4 win over Delaware. He also walked, stole a base and scored twice in the game. His six RBI tied outfielder Nick Barone, who had three hits, all home runs, in a 17-7 victory at Duke on April 14, for the most RBI in a game by a Flame this season.
On the season, Jaffe has .326 with 22 RBI and 27 runs scored in 34 games. He has six doubles, a triple and two home runs on the season.
