Haarer Moves Into Top 10 During Round 2 at The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Liberty's Silas Haarer carded six birdies on his way to a career round that has the freshman inside the top 10 heading into the final round of The Hayt.
Haarer's Sunday scorecard included six birdies, two bogeys and 10 pars, allowing the freshman to sign for a career low round of 4-under par 68 on the Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 7,092 yards).
This marked Haarer's third sub-70 round of his young collegiate career. During the fall, Haarer carded rounds of 69 at the Rod Myers Invitational and the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
With the 4-under par round on Sunday, Haarer will enter tomorrow's final round tied for ninth place with an overall score of 5-under par 139 (71-68).
Haarer is just two shots off the overall pace, set by a trio of players at 7-under par 137. The group of three players includes Virginia's Ben James (67-70), who is ranked No. 3 in the country, Texas Tech's Connor Graham (68-69), who is ranked No. 9, and Charlotte's Seb Cave (71-66).
As a team, Liberty enters tomorrow's final round in 13th place with a 2-over par 578 (291-287).
The Flames saw a four-shot improvement over the first round thanks to Josh Ryan following Haarer's strong play with a 1-under par 71 on Sunday.
The 16-team field includes eight teams who entered the tournament in the top 25 of the latest Scoreboard Powered by Clippd national rankings.
No. 21 Charlotte currently holds a three-stroke lead with an 18-under par 558 (280-278). No. 6 LSU (274-287) and No. 2 Auburn (279-282) share second place with a 15-under par 561.
The 16-team field will return to the Sawgrass Country Club for the final round on Monday, starting at 8:45 a.m. Liberty will head off the No. 10 tee beginning at 9:30 a.m.
