The Cavaliers improve to 28-3 on the season with their fourth win in a row. Liberty (14-16) saw its seven-game winning streak come to a close.

Turning Point
- Liberty took a 1-0 lead on a fourth-inning solo homer by Savannah Jessee. The Lady Flames still led 1-0 with one on in the top of the sixth when Virginia brought in relief pitcher Eden Bigham. The Cavalier right-hander struck out Jessee for the second out before walking the bases loaded. She fanned Maci Strickland to end the rally.
- Virginia rallied in the bottom of the sixth, as Bella Cabral walked before Kelsey Hackett flared a single to left center just out of the reach of shortstop Savanah Whatley. Alex Call followed by a lining a game-tying single to left center which was nearly caught on a dive by left fielder Paige Doerr. Hanah Weismer's sacrifice fly then put UVA ahead 2-1.
- Bigham pitched around a one-out single in the seventh to close out the win.
- Liberty outhit Virginia 5-4 for the game, with both teams leaving six runners on base.
- Bigham (10-0) tossed 1 2/3 innings of one-hit relief for the Cavaliers, walking two and fanning three. UVA starter Courtney Layne allowed one run on three hits, striking out five in 4 1/3 innings before giving way to Taylor Smith and then Bigham.
- Camden Anders (6-2) drew the tough-luck loss, allowing two runs on four hits, walking five and striking out three.
- Jade Hylton (1-for-2) tripled for UVA, while Alex Call and Hannah Weismer both had one RBI each.
- Savannah Jessee hit her sixth homer of the season, while Alexia Carrasquillo doubled.
- Virginia leads the all-time series in softball against Liberty, 51-28, with the Cavaliers winning each of the last two meetings.
- Liberty has homered in each of its last 10 games. It is the team's longest streak of consecutive games with at least one home run since homering in 13 straight games, Feb. 21 through March 12, 2021.
- Liberty is now 11-2 when leading after the fifth inning this year.
- The Lady Flames are winless in seven meetings against Top 25 opponents so far this season.
- Ella Fox extended her hitting streak to seven games.

The Lady Flames return home to Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium following an eight-game road swing. Liberty will host Delaware in a three-games series, Friday through Sunday at Liberty Softball Stadium.
