LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty lacrosse team (1-4) plays host to James Madison on Wednesday evening at 4 p.m. from the Liberty Lacrosse Field. The Lady Flames look to swing momentum their way in March after picking up their first win of the season last week.
Liberty earned a 16-4 win on Wednesday at Longwood to end a four-game skid to open the 2026 season. The contest was the team's first road matchup of the season.
The Lady Flames eye their first home victory of the season as well as their first triumph against the Dukes. Liberty is 0-5 all-time against JMU, most recently falling 17-6 on the road last season.
Three of the Lady Flames' four losses in the early season have come against ranked opponents. Liberty opened the season against No. 8 Johns Hopkins (17-7) and was taken down by No. 24 (17-8) Virginia and No. 25 Richmond (16-6).

- Senior Katie Colavito and freshman Sophia Nesci lead the team with 10 goals this season. Colavito tallied six goals in her most recent outing at Longwood. Nesci added three scores.
- Colavito leads the team in caused turnovers (12) and ground balls (tied with 13).
- Nesci paces the team with 17 points with 10 goals and seven assists. She ranks No. 9 in the country in assists per game (1.40) and No. 10 in points per game (3.40) among freshmen.
- The Freshman has recorded at least one goal in her first five games as a Lady Flame. She has earned back-to-back hat tricks with seven points in two games.
- Nesci's 17 points are the most for a Liberty freshman since Cami Merkel (2022-25) in 2022, when she had 13 points. Her 10 goals are the most since Merkel had 11 goals in five contests.
- Liberty ranks No. 1 in the country with 17.80 caused turnovers per game. The team also ranks No. 3 nationally with 21.40 ground balls per game. Colavito and Kate Troutman share the team lead with 13 ground balls.
- Goalkeeper Rachel Hines ranks No. 18 in the country with 9.20 saves per game. Through five games, she has earned a 13.45 goals-against average and a .414 save percentage.
- The team has owned a 1-4 record in eight seasons in its 16 years of existence.
- In 2023, Liberty began the year 2-4, including four losses to ranked opponents. They went on to win the ASUN Regular Season Championship with a 12-7 record (7-0 ASUN).
