
Liberty Opens Three-Match Event in Arizona Against No. 64 Washington

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 51 Liberty men's tennis team (4-5) prepares to take on No. 64 Washington (5-4) out West in the Diablos College Invitational, hosted by Arizona State, beginning on Friday. The three-match event spans two days in Tempe, Ariz., from the Kiwanis Tennis Center.
The matches will be streamed live via PlaySight, but will not have live scoring.
The Tempe Diablos charity organization, in conjunction with Arizona State, is holding the annual event for the fourth consecutive year. Liberty has participated in the event since the inaugural event in 2023.
Liberty will be put to the test in a field of eight programs, six of which carry an ITA national ranking. Programs in the event also include No. 11 Arizona State, No. 29 Arizona, No. 31 UC Santa Barbara, No. 68 Boise State, Michigan State and Tulane.
The invitational begins at 2 p.m. ET/noon MT with two matches, including Liberty's match. Following two matches that begin at 4 p.m. MT on Friday, Liberty will play the doubles round against its second opponent, which will be determined based on Friday's results. On Saturday morning, play will resume by finishing the singles round against its second opponent before the Flames take on their third opponent of the weekend.
The Flames met Arizona State in last season's iteration, suffering a 4-0 defeat to open the invite. Liberty matched up against Boise State and Michigan State in previous years. The Flames concluded last season's event with a 2-1 record with triumphs over UTSA (4-0) and No. 68 Utah State (4-1). The Flames are 4-5 overall at the event.
