LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's tennis team and Head Coach Derek Schwandt have announced the addition of Nathan Pitts to the 2026-27 roster. Pitts joins Liberty via Clemson as a junior, where he compiled a 14-13 singles record in two seasons as a Tiger.
"The coaches are honored to welcome Nate to our Flames family. He is going to elevate our team culture, training environment and grit as a unit," Schwandt said. "He is a tough competitor and has improved a lot through consistently being consistent. He will continue to do so at Liberty as we train champions for Christ."
Pitts represents the third addition to the 2026-27 roster, following Angel Veliz and Owen Guistwite, who will join as freshmen this Fall.
In his freshman season in 2024-25 at Clemson, Pitts impressed in his fall season with a 9-5 record, including six straight victories. At the Division I Southern Intercollegiates tournament, Pitts won his draw with a 3-0 record.
Across his sophomore campaign, he earned a 4-6 record in the tournament season. He made his first spring appearances with the Tigers last season, securing a 1-1 record in three matches. He also owns a 7-6 mark in doubles matches.
Pitts currently carries a 12.50 UTR (Universal Tennis) and a 13.46 WTN (World Tennis Number). He has secured winning victories against high-level opponents, including Boris Kozlov (career-high No. 493, ATP) and Manuel Plunger (career-high No. 858, ATP).
Liberty looks to build its roster following a third consecutive exit as the Conference USA Runners-up.
