
Flames In 7th Place Nearing End of Round 2 at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Flames found themselves in seventh place when play was halted due to darkness late during the second round of the Gator Invitational on Saturday.
The 18-team field was called off the course at 6:20 p.m. as the sunlight faded at the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards).
Play is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning with the Flames having roughly three more holes to complete the second round.
Pairings will remain the same for the third round with continuous play allowing the tournament to conclude on Sunday.
Following the morning flight, Liberty was tied for eighth place after carding a 9-over par 289, sharing eighth place with Furman and Penn State.
No. 2 Auburn opened the tournament with an 11-under par 269 and finished the first round two shots better than No. 10 and tournament host Florida. The Gators opened the tournament on their home course with a 9-under par 271.
While only Auburn and Florida found red numbers during the morning, nine teams in the 18-team field were under par for the second round when play was stopped.
Liberty is one of the nine teams with the Flames standing at 2-under par with three holes to play in the second round.
Florida has moved to the top of the leaderboard with a current score of 22-under par. The Gators are three shots clear of Auburn, who is in second place at 19-under par.
No. 12 Oklahoma is in third place at 4-under par, rounding out the teams in red figures at the end of the day.
Liberty's top golfer in the field is Michael Lugiano. The sophomore currently sits at 1-under par through 15 holes of his second round. Lugiano opened the event with a 1-over par 71, but is 2-under par for his second round thanks to four birdies.
Evan Barbin is one shot behind Lugiano and is tied for 17th place with an even par score, while Ike Joy is tied for 24th place with a 1-over par score.
All three golfers finished the morning round with a 1-over par 71 and were tied for 24th place after the opening 18 holes of play.
