LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty featured two BIG EAST Field Hockey individual major award winners in Josefina Tomasi and Clarisa Iudicello, along with five total 2026 All-BIG EAST honorees, the conference office announced on Thursday morning prior to this weekend's BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship.
Tomasi, a junior, was named the BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Iudicello, a freshman, earned BIG EAST Co-Midfielder of the Year recognition. Tomasi is the third BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year in program history, joining Liberty Athletics Hall of Fame member Agueda Moroni (2018) and Daniella Rhodes (fall 2021). Iudicello is the first player in school history to be named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year. This is only the fourth year (2023-26) that the BIG EAST has handed out a BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year honor.
Liberty's All-BIG EAST recipients include first team members Tomasi, Iudicello and sophomore Julieta Tornati. The Lady Flames featured two players on the All-BIG EAST second team in sophomores Mia Santana and Paris-Gail Isaacs. Liberty was one of only two BIG EAST squads with three or more players on the All-BIG EAST first team. BIG EAST regular-season champion Connecticut featured four. The Lady Flames' five total All-BIG EAST honorees are tied for the most in the conference with UConn.
Tomasi and Iudicello both earn their first BIG EAST major postseason honors. Tomasi is now a two-time all-conference selection after being voted to the All-BIG EAST second team in 2025. Tornati earns her second straight All-BIG EAST nod after being voted to the second team a season ago during her maiden campaign. Iudicello, Santana and Isaacs are each first-time all-league honorees.
In 11 years in the conference, the Lady Flames have featured 54 total all-conference recipients (35 first team, 19 second team).
No. 13 Liberty (12-5, 5-1 BIG EAST) is the No. 2 seed for this weekend's 2026 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, held at Temple's Howarth Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
