LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty defender Lauren Littleton was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, receiving her second of the season, the conference announced Tuesday. The Lady Flames' sixth consecutive recognition sets a CUSA record for consecutive Player of the Week awards within the same category.
Liberty, who allowed just a single goal in the CUSA action, was given the award for each week of the conference portion of the schedule. In the six weeks, those receiving the award included Avenley Monteith (Sept. 29), Sallie Garner (Oct. 6), Maddyson Kerley (Oct. 13), Littleton (Oct. 20), Avery Paulson (Oct. 27) and Littleton again (Nov. 3).
The Lady Flames become the first program within CUSA to be awarded the same Player of the Week honor six consecutive times. In addition, they become the first program to sweep any honor through a conference schedule.
Littleton is the first Lady Flame to earn a second Player of the Week award this season. The 2025 CUSA Defensive Player of the Year and Championship Defensive MVP now boasts four career Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Liberty (14-2-2, 7-0-1 CUSA) put the finishing touches on the season with a 1-0 shutout victory at home over Missouri State on Sunday. Littleton and the back line limited the Bears to a single shot in the contest. It was the eighth instance this season the defense held its foe to less than five shots and two shots on goal or fewer in a game.
No. 1 Liberty opens the 2026 CUSA Championship in Newark, Del., on Sunday, taking on No. 8 Sam Houston (5-5-7, 1-3-4 CUSA) at 4:30 p.m. Tickets for the 2026 CUSA Championship, hosted by Delaware, can be found at BlueHens.com, with all games being streamed live on ESPN+.
