Liberty Draws Even Late for 1-1 Tie at UTEP

EL PASO, Texas – Ivy Garner cashed in her seventh goal of the season to earn Liberty (5-3-4, 0-0-2 CUSA) a 1-1 draw in the first leg of a two-game road trip at UTEP (3-6-2, 0-1-1 CUSA) on Friday night.
The Miners struck first in the 15' minute of the contest. Ana Quintero capitalized on a bouncing ball following a deep UTEP throw-in. The Miners controlled the action throughout the first half, not allowing any high-leverage chances for the Lady Flames.
Liberty flipped the script after the break, pressing the action in the offensive zone. The Lady Flames outshot the Miners 16-3 in the second half, including 10 shots on goal. UTEP's goalkeeper, Savannah Finley, was forced to make nine saves in the second half alone.
With just under 100 seconds remaining, Haly Noblit sent a cross in from the outer-third of the pitch. The pass found senior Ivy Garner, who managed to expertly re-direct the ball, not allowing Finley any chance at a save.
The score for Garner was her fourth this season to earn a draw or a win and her second in the final five minutes of the contest.
