Overcash Named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week

After helping the Lady Flames to a 3-0 start to the season, Liberty sophomore right-side hitter Paige Overcash has been named Conference USA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Overcash, a native of Ashe County, N.C., earns her first career conference player of the week honor. The sophomore is the first Liberty volleyball player since Kate Gammer, Oct. 21, 2024, to be named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week.
In her first matches at right-side hitter, Paige Overcash showed tremendous prowess on the attack, ranking second in CUSA with a .473 hitting percentage while averaging a team-high 2.82 kills per set. She helped the Lady Flames post a 3-0 record, winning the Buffalo Invite while also being named Tournament MVP.
Overcash was particularly effective in the final two matches of the weekend, hitting over .500 with double-digit kills in wins over both Buffalo and Rutgers. On Friday night, she hit .588 (11-1-17), helping the Lady Flames to a sweep of the host Buffalo Bulls.
On Saturday, she scored a career-high 16 kills at a .556 pace as Liberty posted its first-ever win over a Big Ten team in program history, a 3-2 victory over Rutgers. In beating the Scarlet Knights, the Lady Flames overcame a 2-0 deficit in a win for the first time since 2016.
Liberty (3-0) heads to Morgantown, W.Va., to compete in the West Virginia Invitational. While in Morgantown, the Lady Flames will take on Coppin State, West Virginia and North Dakota.
