LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's soccer and head coach Lang Wedemeyer have announced their challenging 2025 schedule, along with hosting the 2025 Conference USA Women's Soccer Championship. The Lady Flames open their season on Aug. 14 at East Carolina and host their first home game on Aug. 24, welcoming Virginia.
Lynchburg, Va. and Osborne Stadium will serve as the host site for the 2025 Conference USA Women's Soccer Championship. The tournament will be held Nov. 2-7, with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. Liberty serves as the host of a conference tournament for the fourth time in program history (1998, 1999, 2022).
The Lady Flames' strong 2025 schedule consists of seven teams that made an appearance in the 2024 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship, including four Power Four teams in Virginia (Aug. 24), Virginia Tech (Aug. 28), Penn State (Sept. 7) and Kansas (Sept. 14)
Liberty will face four defending conference champions next season. The team will travel to meet the AAC's East Carolina (Aug. 14), the SunBelt's James Madison (Aug. 17) and CUSA's FIU (Oct. 5), while welcoming Big 12 champion, Kansas, to Osborne Stadium on Sept. 14.
Against their 2025 opponents, Liberty owns a collective 37-61-4 all-time mark (.390 winning percentage). The Lady Flames' foes earned a collective 168-122-70 record (.624 winning percentage) last season.
Liberty is set to face four in-state opponents next season. The team will be hosting Virginia and Virginia Tech and travel to face James Madison (Aug. 17) and Old Dominion (Aug. 31). In 2024, Liberty went undefeated (5-0) against in-state opponents, including a 2-1 victory over No. 21 Virginia Tech and a 2-0 win against Old Dominion.
The Lady Flames open conference play at home, meeting new CUSA member, Missouri State, on Sept. 19. Liberty is slated to face eight CUSA opponents in the regular season. They will host Kennesaw State (Oct. 9), Jacksonville State (Oct. 11), and Sam Houston (Oct. 26). The team travels to face Delaware for the first time as a CUSA opponent. Liberty owns a 2-1-0 record against the Blue Hens, previously topping Delaware 2-1 last season.
Liberty owns an overall 11-3-3 record across two seasons in CUSA. The Lady Flames still seek their first win against Western Kentucky (0-1-1) and FIU (0-2-1).
The 2025 schedule consists of 10 home games, including a stretch of five straight home matchups from Sept. 4 to Sept. 19. The Lady Flames hit the road for eight matches as the visiting team, headlined by three consecutive road games to kick off the season (Aug. 14-Aug. 21).
The Lady Flames (15-2-4) aim to build off a strong 2024 season, earning the title of CUSA Co-Regular Season Champions. The season concluded in Liberty's second consecutive CUSA Championship final, falling 1-0 to FIU. The team gained its first-ever national ranking in program history (No. 24) after securing its first-ever ranked win over No. 21 Virginia Tech on Sept. 5. The Lady Flames return 22 athletes, including seven all-conference team selections.
