Liberty Blazes Past Queens 4-1 for First Home Triumph
9/4/2025 10:02:00 PM | Women's Soccer
In the ninth minute of the game, Halle Engle sent a low cross halfway across the field. The ball found midfielder Avenley Monteith, who patiently waited for an opening, taking a single touch to gain the first tally of the night.
Midfielder Bri Myers netted her second goal of the season eight minutes later. She found a spot in the penalty box and received a perfect cross from Carly Keene, fought through a pair of Queens to find the back of the net.
After another eight-minute period, Engle found herself on the board, this time scoring to boost the Lady Flames' lead to 3-0. She turned over a Queens defender who had just received the ball from their goalkeeper. Engle beat a chasing center back, sending a shot between her and the keeper for her second goal of the year.
In the final minutes of the first half, Queens received a corner opportunity. Queens' Mika Katz took advantage, sending a perfect ball to the goal line. Liberty goalkeeper Grace Workman was unable to clear the ball, carrying across into the back of the net.
Liberty added another goal to push the lead to 4-1. Lynchburg native, freshman Brooklyn Jenkins, scored her first career goal. The forward was able to receive a pass from Avery Paulson from the end line, despite a defender deflecting the attempt. She sent a perfect strike to the top upper-90, leaving little chance for the goalkeeper.
The Lady Flames improve to 2-0 all-time against Queens.
