The two teams traded goals in the first half with Kansas holding a 2-1 lead at the break. The Jayhawks opened the scoring in the contest in the 10' minute from Olivia Page, taking advantage of a shot that was initially saved from Saige Wimes, but deflected back into play off the crossbar.
Liberty quickly responded in the 16' minute with midfielder Gabby Miranda equalizing, receiving a pristine assist from Ivy Garner. Her first shot was initially saved, but the rebound came right to the junior's feet and she buried the second chance opportunity. The score was Miranda's first of the season.
Kansas regained the lead in the 27' minute when Mary Sola scored, assisted by Jocelyn Herrema, bringing the score to 2-1.
The second half kicked off with Kansas maintaining offensive pressure, resulting in a goal by Jillian Gregorski in the 49' minute following an assist from Saige Wimes, her second assist of the contest to extend the lead to 3-1. Liberty's persistence paid off in the 83' minute when Halle Engle scored. Littleton made the initial pass on a goal kick and the play stretched out with Ivy Garner gaining space on the end line and finding Engle for the score.
Despite Liberty's efforts, including a late corner kick in the 89th minute, Kansas held on for the victory.
Engle scored a goal on her only shot on target for Liberty. Miranda also found the back of the net, converting both her shot attempts into goals. In goal, Workman recorded six saves in the first half, while Peyton Huber added four saves in the second half. Garner contributed two assists, supporting the offensive efforts with precision passing.
Liberty concludes non-conference action with a 5-3-2 mark, with its other losses coming against ranked opponents (No. 17 Virginia and No. 9 Penn State) and earning a draw against a ranked No. 24 Virginia Tech squad.
