Lady Flames Fall to No. 9 Penn State 3-0

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Three second-half scores resulted in a 3-0 defeat for Liberty (4-2-2) against No. 9 Penn State (4-2-1) on Sunday afternoon.
The two programs played an even first half. The Lady Flames controlled the pace of play at times, generating multiple scoring chances. Despite five shots between the teams, no team registered a shot on goal in the first half. Penn State's Amelia White came closest, beating Liberty goalkeeper Ainsley Leja, but ringing her shot off the post.
The Nittany Lions broke the game open in the 55' minute, scoring directly after a broken corner attempt. The ball was kicked out to Penn State's Julia Raich, who unleashed a strike that struck the bottom of the crossbar and into the net.
Penn State controlled the game after taking the lead. The Nittany Lions added a second goal from Lilly Burger five minutes later, in the 60' minute. With 10 minutes remaining, Penn State added a tally from Aubrey Kulpa.
Liberty falls to 1-2-1 at home with both losses coming to ranked opponents (2-0 loss vs. No. 17 Virginia). The Lady Flames still seek their first victory against the Nittany Lions, now 0-2 all-time against Penn State.
