
Liberty Set for First-Ever NCAA Tournament Appearance at No. 8 Johns Hopkins

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The 2025 Atlantic Sun Champions, the Liberty Lady Flames (12-7) prepare for their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship to take on No. 8 Johns Hopkins (12-6) in Baltimore, Md., on Friday at 2 p.m. The contest from Homewood Field will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Tickets will be available at the gate with $10 rates for adults and a $5 rate for seniors and students.
Liberty bested defending ASUN champions, Coastal Carolina, 14-8 to claim its first-ever ASUN title and its first-ever berth into the NCAA tournament.
The two teams will meet for the first time in program history. Both schools will be facing each other in a head-to-head competition for the first time in any sport. Liberty will be facing a Big 10 program for the first time in team history.
The winner of the matchup will face the victor of the meeting between Princeton and Massachusetts on Friday at 5 p.m. The second round matchup is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. from Homewood Field.

- Liberty secured its first-ever conference title, securing the 2025 ASUN Championship with a 14-8 victory over defending ASUN Champion, No. 4 seed Coastal Carolina.
- The Lady Flames picked up their highest-ever ranked win in February. Liberty travelled to No. 20 Richmond and pulled off an upset 14-13 triumph for its first-ever victory against the Spiders, following 10 consecutive losses.
- Midfielder Katie Colavito has shined for the Lady Flames, receiving hardware in return. The junior was named the ASUN Midfielder of the Year, selected to the All-Conference team, chosen as the ASUN Championship MVP and All-Tournament team and was included on the ASUN All-Academic Team.
- Liberty has received record-setting performances from a pair of senior attackers, Taiva Reinertson and Mackenzie Lehman. Reinertson broke the program single-season record for both goals (53) and points (71) in Saturday's championship game triumph. Lehman trails her, currently tied for the previous goals record (52) and sits one behind the previous points record (69).
- Liberty received five selections to the ASUN All-Tournament team, headlined by Colavito as MVP. Reinertson and Lehman each received selections along with defender Jenna Burrow and goalkeeper Rachel Hines.
- ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, Burrow, leads a defense that leads the country in both caused turnovers per game (17.68, 336 total) and ground balls per game (22.16, 421 total). The junior ranks No. 13 nationally and leads the ASUN with 2.26 caused turnovers per game.
- Madeleine Klunder, a second-team ASUN All-Conference selection, leads the team with 2.58 ground balls per game.
- Liberty was featured across 10 different ASUN postseason awards, including three All-ASUN first team and three All-ASUN second team selections, headlined by ASUN Midfielder of the Year, Colavito and ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, Burrow. Colavito, Burrow and Reinertson represented Liberty on the All-ASUN first team. Lehman, midfielder/draw specialist Ava Menna and Klunder were recognized on the All-ASUN second team. Midfielder Olivia Young and defender Ava McGlothlin were each named to the ASUN All-Freshman team. Two Lady Flames, Colavito and Lehman, were included on the Academic All-ASUN Team.
- Liberty ranks No. 18 in the country in scoring with 14.68 goals per game and ranks No. 18 nationally with 35.11 shots per game.
- The Lady Flames rank No. 10 in the country with 17.11 draw controls per game. Menna leads the team and ranks No. 13 nationally with 8.47 draw controls per game (161 total).
