LYNCHBURG, Va. - Sam Houston edged No. 22 Liberty 3-1 on Friday, leveling this weekend's series at one game apiece at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
The Bearkats improve to 24-22 with the win, including 12-8 in Conference USA play. Meanwhile, the Lady Flames fall to 37-10, 16-3 in CUSA games. Liberty won game one last night, 9-4.

- Sam Houston jumped ahead on a two-run homer by Allie Saville in the fourth before adding a sixth-inning insurance run.
- Bearkat starter Abigail Young pitched around a two-out walk, getting a strikeout to end the game.
- The visitors outhit Liberty 7-5 for the game, with both teams leaving six runners on base.
- Young (7-5) earned the victory, yielding one run on five hits, walking one and fanning three
- Kaylan Yoder fell to 7-4 with the loss, giving up three runs on six hits, while walking three and striking out eight in six innings. Paige Bachman pitched one scoreless inning of relief.
- Jenny Robison batted 3-for-4, while Allie Saville went 1-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and one run scored. Samantha Graeter hit 1-for-1 with two runs.
- Five different Lady Flames had one hit apiece, all singles. KK Madrey stole her CUSA-leading 39th base.
- Liberty and Sam Houston are now tied at 3-3 in the all-time softball series.
- This is just the fourth time in 15 CUSA series that Liberty has needed a decisive third game. The Lady Flames are 3-0 in CUSA rubber matches since joining the conference last year and have won all 14 CUSA series to date.
- Paige Doerr saw her hitting streak snapped at 13 games.
- Savannah Woodard has reached in 16 games in a row.
- Madrey's 39 stolen bases this season are tied for the second most in a single season in program history with Stacy Radulovich (1996). Madrey needs three more stolen bases to pass Katie Zavodny's (2013) single-season team record of 41.
- Roupe moved into a tie for seventh in program history with 217 career hits, tying Alexia Taylor (2015-18).
- Yoder is the first Lady Flames pitcher to start back-to-back conference games in the same series since Karlie Keeney started all three game at Central Arkansas, April 22-23, 2023.
