CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Josh Ryan and the Flames are heading into next week's CUSA Men's Golf Championship in the right direction after their best showing of the 2024-25 season.
Ryan finished as the runner-up at the 2025 Lewis Chitengwa Memorial on Tuesday, while the Flames posted their best team finish of the season with a fourth-place showing at the Virginia-hosted event.
When the winds around the Birdwood Golf Course (par 71, 7,116 yards) kicked up during the afternoon, Liberty was able to withstand the challenge and keep its placement on the leaderboard.
The Cavaliers' home course played at a scoring average of 71.56 (Round 1) and 72.64 (Round 2) on Monday. However, with wind gusts ranging between 20 and 30 MPH throughout the day on Tuesday, the field scoring average ballooned up to 75.86 during the final round.
Liberty carded the third-best team score on Tuesday and finished the tournament with an overall 6-over par 858 (280-286-292).

Ryan, who shared second place with three other golfers, carded a 3-under par 210 (69-70-71). He led the 72-man field with 16 birdies.
