
Liberty Prepared for Pair of CUSA Matches in Miami

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team (8-10, 2-0 CUSA) is set for rematches of the 2024 CUSA Women's Tennis Championship Quarterfinal and Final taking on No. 46 FIU (10-2, 0-0 CUSA) Friday at 12 p.m. and New Mexico State (11-7, 1-1 CUSA) on Saturday at 11 a.m. Both matches will be streamed live via TrackTennis.
The Lady Flames began conference play with a 2-0 record, topping Middle Tennessee 4-1 last Friday and sweeping UTEP 4-0 on Sunday.
Liberty looks to stay undefeated in regular season conference play after going 5-0 in league matches last season.
The No. 1 doubles pair of Daniella O'Neill and Maria Turchetto were recognized for their 2-0 record last week as the CUSA Doubles Pair of the Week. The duo dropped only two games with a 6-2 triumph over MTSU and a 6-0 sweep of UTEP.
At last year's CUSA Championship, Liberty topped No. 7 seed New Mexico State 4-0 in the quarterfinal and was upended by No. 1 seed FIU 4-1 for the CUSA title.
Liberty has two returning players, Danilla O'Neill and Maria Turchetto who played in last season's CUSA tournament run. Turchetto was victorious against FIU's Kristyna Hrancova 6-3, 6-1 in the No.6 singles match. O'Neill's match went unfinished on court five.
