
Liberty Secures 2-0 Weekend with 4-0 Sweep over UTEP

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty (8-10, 2-0 CUSA) opened the Conference USA season with a dominant display, sweeping UTEP (6-7, 0-4 CUSA) 4-0 to earn a 2-0 CUSA weekend on Sunday. The Lady Flames bested Middle Tennessee 4-1 on Friday.
The Lady Flames came out on fire in doubles with wins on courts one and three. Daniella O'Neil and Turchetto blazed past their foes with a 6-0 final in the No. 1 doubles match. Yu-Yun Chen and Celina Joseph breezed past their counterparts with a 6-1 final on court three.
Liberty blazed by the Miners in the singles round with three swift victories. Joseph topped her foe 6-3, 6-0 on court six and O'Neill toppled her match partner 6-4, 6-0. Anika Lemus clinched the match-winning fourth point with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Wendy Zhang in the No. 5 singles match.
Liberty won every first set including Chen battling back down from 4-2 for a 7-5 set victory.
The Lady Flames improve to 5-5 at home this season with a 2-0 record outdoors in Lynchburg. Liberty gets a 4-0 victory over UTEP for the second consecutive season.
