
Flames Wrap Up Play at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Flames were able to shave 10 shots off their score from yesterday with some stellar play on the par-5 holes during the final round of the General Hackler Championship.
Liberty closed its stay at the Coastal Carolina hosted tournament by carding 13 birdies on the par-5 holes on Tuesday, including all five Flames posting a birdie on No. 4 (529 yards) and No. 8 (538 yards).
The Flames posted a 4-over par 292 during the final round, improving 10 shots over Monday's second round score. Overall, Liberty finished the event in 15th place, carding a 20-over par 884 (290-302-292) at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club (par 72, 7,233 yards).
Auburn, the No. 1 team in the country, posted its second win in a row, carding a 33-under par 831 (278-284-269). The Tigers won the event by a 17-stroke margin.
No. 39 Louisville took second place with a 16-under par 848 (289-282-277), while No. 19 Duke finished in third place with a 14-under par 850 (281-290-279).
Auburn's Brendan Valdes closed the event with a stellar 7-under par round of 65, which featured six birdies and an eagle, to help him claim medalist honors.
Valdres' winning score of 12-under par 204 (67-72-65) was one shot better than Duke's Ethan Evans, who finished with a 11-under par 205 (69-66-70) to take runner-up honors.
Ike Joy paced the Flames in their fourth team event in a row, finishing tied for 42nd place with a 4-over par 220 (71-77-72).
Josh Ryan (75-73-74) and Michael Lugiano (70-74-78) were two shots behind Joy, finishing in a tie for 48th place with a 6-over par 222.
Andrew Gregory closed the event with a 1-under par 71, accounting for his sixth round at par or better during the 2024-25 season.
