
Ryan Paces Flames During Round 2 of General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – After a challenging start to the day, Liberty's Josh Ryan course corrected and closed strong to pace Liberty's action during the second day at the General Hackler Championship.
Ryan bogeyed three of his first four holes at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club (par 72, 7,233 yards) on Monday. However, the junior responded to close with 12 pars and birdies at the par-5, No. 8 hole (538 yards) and par-3, No. 17 hole (185 yards) to card a 1-over par 73.
The low round of the day for the Flames allowed Ryan to climb 12 spots up the leaderboard. Overall, Ryan enters tomorrow's round tied for 45th place with a 4-over par 148 (75-73).
Liberty's leader following 36 holes of action at the Coastal Carolina event is Michael Lugiano. The freshman stands in 21st place with an overall even par 144 (70-74).
Lugiano is tied for fifth in the 90-man field with nine birdies and is tied for fourth in par-5 scoring (4.50 average). Four of his nine birdies have come on par-5 holes through two rounds.
As a team, Liberty struggled on Monday, falling to 14th place in the 16-team field. The Flames enter tomorrow's final round with an aggregate 36-hole score of 16-over par 592 (290-302).
Auburn, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, currently leads the field. The Tigers enter tomorrow's final round with a nine-stroke lead as they have carded a 14-under par 562 (278-284) during the first two days of competition.
No. 19 Duke (281-290) shares second place with No. 39 Louisville (289-282) with both teams at a 5-under par 571. Louisville paced the field on Monday with a 6-under par 282.
Duke's Ethan Evans is in position to record his second individual win of the season. He leads the field by three strokes, heading into the final round with a 9-under par 135 (69-66).
Liberty will tee it up alongside Missouri and No. 45 Charleston during the final round on Tuesday, as they head off the No. 10 tee at 8:55 a.m.
