Liberty Takes Neutral-Site Against Gonzaga 4-1

TAMPA, Fla. – The Lady Flames (6-9) picked up a big 4-1 triumph over Gonzaga (7-5) in a neutral-site match in Tampa, Fla., on Tuesday afternoon. The match was the second of the week after Liberty fell 4-3 to the week's host South Florida on Sunday.
The doubles round was tightly contested as Gonzaga took a close match on court one. Liberty prevailed with a 6-3 triumph on court three and a clutch 7-6 (6) tiebreak victory on court two.
The Lady Flames earned a 2-0 lead after Yu-Yun Chen blazed past Rose Hayes 6-1,6-1 in the No. 3 singles match. The Bulldogs responded with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court six.
Liberty picked up a commanding 3-1 lead in the No. 4 singles match as Maria Turchetto bested Ella Nielsen 6-4, 6-2. Anika Lemus earned the match-clinching fourth point on court five topping Brooke Bittner after a lengthy first set. Lemus came back from down 4-5 to take the set 7-5. The freshman dominated the second set for a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.
Liberty held a lead on court one with Yoanna Radulova a point away from holding a match point while Daniella O'Neill was in a third set on court two.
The Lady Flames improve to 2-1 in neutral-site matches this season and 3-5 overall on the road.
