Top 25 Matchup Highlights Liberty's Home Games This Week

No. 21 Liberty continues its 13-game homestand with five games this week, beginning with a Top 25 matchup against No. 15 Virginia Tech, Wednesday. The Lady Flames will then host the Liberty Softball Invitational, Friday through Sunday.
Wednesday's game will appear on ESPN+.

• Wednesday's game between Liberty (12-3) and Virginia Tech (12-3) will be the first game in Liberty Softball Stadium where both teams enter the game ranked in the Top 25.

• The Lady Flames are 1-1 against Top 25 opponents this season, defeating No. 12 Alabama 7-6 on Feb. 14 before falling to No. 15 Missouri the following day. Virginia Tech is 2-3 versus Top 25 teams this season (at time of meeting), with wins over No. 21 Northwestern and No. 21 Alabama.
• Liberty went 4-0 at the Liberty Softball Classic on the weekend, outscoring opponents by a 32-4 margin. Rachel Roupe was named the CUSA Player of the Week after hitting .455 with three doubles, one homer and five RBI last weekend. Danner Allen was named CUSA Freshman of the Week, going 1-0 with a save, 0.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings pitched at the Liberty Softball Classic.
• Liberty opened the 2025 Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational with comeback wins over Charlotte (6-4) and No. 12 Alabama (7-6) on Feb. 14, pushing their program-best start to 8-0. Liberty is 5-2 against Power Conference opponents this season, also beating Louisville, Rutgers (twice) and UCF.
• KK Madrey bats .476 on the season and ranks seventh nationally with 14 stolen bases. Oregon State transfers Savanah Whatley (.385) and Paige Doerr (.375) have both provided a spark in their first year on Liberty Mountain. Whatley keyed Liberty's win over No. 12 Alabama with a triple and three RBI. Savannah Woodard has thrived in the leadoff spot, batting .333 with 13 runs and nine RBI. Savannah Jessee bats .333, while Brooke Roberts (.298) is second on the team with 12 RBI. 2025 CUSA Preseason Player of the Year Rachel Roupe leads the Lady Flames in doubles (5), homers (3) and RBI (13).
• Freshman Danner Allen has a 0.00 ERA in four appearances so far this season. On Sunday, she tossed a one-hitter with eight strikeouts against Hofstra. Senior Paige Bachman is 4-1 with a 1.67 ERA, one shutout and 27 strikeouts. 2024 NFCA All-Region third team pitcher Kaylan Yoder is 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA, while 2024 NFCA All-Region second-teamer Elena Escobar is 3-1 and earned the win over No. 12 Alabama. Tyler Oubre (2-0, 1.80) tossed a three-hit shutout against Charleston Southern on Friday.
