
No. 64 Dartmouth Bests Liberty 5-2

HANOVER, N.H. – The Liberty Flames tennis team (3-5) dropped its third consecutive match, falling 5-2 to No. 64 Dartmouth (6-3) on the road Friday night.
Dartmouth took the critical doubles point with wins on courts two and one. Liberty's Ernst Gouws and Matija Samardzic cruised in their first match together to a 6-1 triumph on court three. Carl Roothman and Siwanat Auytayakul, also paired in their first doubles match, forced a tiebreak, facing a 5-6 deficit. The duo rattled off back-to-back points to even the tiebreak at 5-5, but Dartmouth regained the lead after a questioned line call. The Big Green held on for the 7-6 (5) triumph.
The Big Green secured a quick pair of singles matches to gain a 3-0 match lead with victories in the No. 2 and 4 singles matches. Dartmouth secured the match-clinching fourth point at 4-0 on court three with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph over Siwanat Auytayakul.
After the match concluded, Liberty picked up two singles triumphs. Almeida was victorious 6-2, 6-4 on court one and Robinson won in three sets 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 on court six.
In the final match of the day, Rodrigo Santiago Arraez battled for three sets in the No. 5 singles match. Arraez secured the first set but dropped the second set in a tiebreaker. Arraes faced an 8-3 deficit in a third set super tiebreak, but was unable to climb back falling 5-7, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (6).
