
Lady Flames Sustain 1st Losses of Season, Fall to Missouri, Wichita State

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Liberty softball team sustained its first two losses of the season, falling to No. 15 Missouri (5-3) and Wichita State (3-2) on Saturday at Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex.
The 20th-ranked Lady Flames are now 8-2 on the season, including 2-2 in this week's Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. Missouri holds a 6-5 record, while Wichita State is 6-3.

- Missouri outhit Liberty 8-3 for the game, while the Tigers committing two errors compared to one for the Lady Flames.
- Marissa McCann (3-0) earned the win, allowing three runs (unearned) on three hits, walking four and fanning three.
- Elena Escobar (2-1) drew the loss, yielding four runs on four hits, with one walk and four strikeouts in two innings. Paige Bachman pitched the final four innings.
- Madison Walker homered twice, driving in three runs, while Kara Daly went 2-for-3 with a homer, one RBI and one run.

- Wichita State scored all of its runs on a go-ahead three-run double by Ellee Eck oin the top of the fifth.
- Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Liberty had a golden opportunity to walk it off, loading the bases with nobody out with the top of the order due up. Chloe Barber nailed down the save, striking out Savannah Woodard before getting Rachel Roupe to pop out and Brynn McManus to ground out.
- Liberty held a 6-4 edge in hits, while the Lady Flames committed one error. The Lady Flames left seven on base, compared to three stranded for the Shockers.
- Alex Aguilar (4-1) allowed two runs on three hits, walking three and fanning one in four innings. Barber earned the save with three innings of three-hit softball.
- Paige Bachman (4-1) drew the loss, allowing three runs on five hits, walking one and fanning two in 4 1/3 innings. Kaylan Yoder pitched 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief, striking out two.
- Ellee Eck went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Wichita State.
- Savannah Jessee batted 1-for-3 with two RBI.
- Liberty and Wichita State met for the first time in softball today.
- Savannah Woodard reached base safely in each of the first nine games before being held off base against Wichita State.
- After her base hit today, Alyssa Henault is 4-for-6 as a pinch hitter so far this season.
- KK Madrey stole her 10th base of the season. She is now in sole possession of seventh place in program history with 53 stolen bases as a Lady Flame.
- Roupe tied former teammate Mary Claire Wilson (2021-24) with 125 career runs scored. Roupe passed Kelly Strickland (2009-12) into seventh all-time at Liberty with 342 career total bases.
