ANNAPOLIS, Md. – For the second day in a row at the Navy Classic, Liberty built a big early lead and successfully withstood its opponent's furious comeback. The Lady Flames' 68-56 victory over Manhattan, Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall, made them the only team to go 2-0 during the two-day event.
Liberty improves to 5-2 with its third victory in the last five days. Navy Classic MVP Avery Mills (career-high 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists) and fellow all-tournament team member Emmy Stout (16 points, 10 rebounds, career-high four blocks) led the way as the Lady Flames posted a 2-0 record for the third time in four Navy Classic appearances. They previously topped Duquesne by a 67-60 count on Saturday in Annapolis.
Manhattan remains winless at 0-7 to begin 2025-26 despite forcing Liberty into a season-high 30 turnovers and whittling a 24-point second-half deficit to six. However, the Jaspers fell short in the end, shooting only 30.8 percent (20-of-65) for the contest.

- Mills' 24 points established a new career high, while her five triples matched the sophomore's career best. She averaged a team-best 21.0 ppg for the Navy Classic, hitting eight triples in two games.
- Mills connected on five of her seven free throw attempts on Sunday, seeing her streak of made foul shots halted at 26. That ties her with Jaymee Fisher-Davis (2013-15) for the second-longest streak in program history.
- Stout (16 points, 10 boards) posted her second double-double this season and the third of her career. Her four rejections doubled the sophomore's previous career high. Stout averaged 15.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 2.5 bpg for the pair of Navy Classic outings.
- Acin (10 points) made it three Lady Flames in double figures, with all but one of her points coming from a trio of first-half three-pointers. Acin has now connected on more triples in four appearances this season (13) than she did in 60 games as a freshman and sophomore (12).
- Nwaobi's nine points set a new career high, and her game-high 11 boards made it five straight games pulling down double-digit rebounds.
- The Lady Flames recorded their first win when committing 30 or more turnovers since Dec. 3, 2019 vs. East Carolina (81-66 victory despite 31 turnovers).
