Liberty WBB Sets 2026-27 Non-Conference Slate

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty announced its 14-game women's basketball non-conference schedule today, completing its 2026-27 slate. The non-conference portion features the earliest start to a season in program history (Nov. 2) and home clashes with in-state foes George Mason (Dec. 5) and James Madison (Dec. 8).
Early Start
For the second year in a row and the third time in four seasons, the Lady Flames will play host to Frostburg State in the season opener. The Nov. 2 tilt at Liberty Arena will be the earliest in program history, eclipsing the previous standard of Nov. 4.
Commonwealth Clashes
Liberty will open the month of December with three straight matchups against talented in-state foes. George Mason (Dec. 5) and James Madison (Dec. 8) will each visit Liberty Arena, while the Lady Flames will head to Richmond on Dec. 13.
The three teams averaged 25 wins last season, with James Madison and Richmond each advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
Trekking Through the Tar Heel State
The Lady Flames will play four straight games in North Carolina during November, including matchups at East Carolina (Nov. 7), NC State (Nov. 11), North Carolina A&T (Nov. 17) and Elon (Nov. 19). The Elon clash will mark Liberty's first visit to the Schar Center, which opened in 2018.
Pair of Pennsylvania Tournaments
Liberty will visit Pennsylvania for a pair of tournaments, including the Christmas City Classic (Nov. 28-29 in Bethlehem, Pa.) and the Hawk Classic (Dec. 20-21 in Philadelphia, Pa.)
The Lady Flames' first Christmas City Classic appearance since 2018 will see them open against host Lehigh on Nov. 28. Possible opponents for Nov. 29 include Harvard and Pitt.
Liberty will then close out non-conference play at the Hawk Classic, marking the Lady Flames' first contests at Saint Joseph's since 2013. Liberty will square off against Washington State on Dec. 20 and then either defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross or Saint Joseph's on Dec. 21.
